Snow

You wouldn’t think it would crunch under your feet

It being fluffy, and all

But it does

Under your boot

The weight of your body breaking the white blanket

The powder that blows up your leg

It’s beautiful, but cold

Mesmerizing, but dangerous

Soft, but somehow crunchy

Following the footsteps of others before you

Careful not to twist your ankle in the confusing blanket of fluff

Some days you could sink

Some days you could float

Some days it’s just best to stay inside, not braving the cold

With a warm cup of coffee

Watching the flurries swing down to cover the dead earth

You wouldn’t think it would crunch under your feet

It being fluffy, and all

But it does
