Robert Cormier

I have several favorite quotes about writing and here is one of them; “The beautiful part of writing is that you don’t have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a brain surgeon.”  I love this because it’s so true.  You don’t have to get it right the first time.  You can just write whatever you want, and then later you can go back and edit.  You can tweak, or change, or rearrange the story however you want to.  The story is not permanent.  Even after it’s published, you will still be thinking about it in your head and changing little details.  Stories will continue changing just as long as they are alive in you.  And don’t write what others want to hear; write what you want to talk about.  And if you do that, it will be brilliant.
